About Us

HBEC is committed to supporting candidates for school board positions who demonstrate the leadership to improve student academic performance. HBEC is also committed to creating support in the community for significant changes that are required in Houston’s public schools.

Objective

Support public education in Greater Houston through the selection, vetting and financial campaign support of reform-minded, service-oriented candidates.

Principles

  1. HBEC believes an educated citizen is crucial to the long-term economic and civic success of a free society, specifically Houston.
  2. As the fast majority of Houstonians obtain their primary and secondary education through public institutions, those institutions must provide a robust education for the future, productive citizens of Houston.
  3. HBEC believes it is the duty and obligation of business and civic leaders to hold public education institutions to task in order to ensure that a quality product is being delivered and if it is not, identify the changes that should be made.
  4. HBEC’s primary strategy for change is through the identification of candidates most likely to affect change toward stated reform goals, vetting those candidates, and support of those candidate in pursuit of school board positions.
